Children and Adolescents

For well over a decade, I have worked with children and adolescents with a variety of strengths and challenges.  I personalize the care for each individual, working with the child alone or with the family as needed. Our work together may include consultation with other service providers, including school staff.  Adolescents will require developmentally appropriate care that respects their growing autonomy and their need for a confidential relationship. Some of the reasons that children and adolescents may seek treatment include:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Behavior challenges/difficulty controlling anger

  • Social and peer problems

  • Difficulty with life stress (e.g., divorce, loss, moving)

  • School challenges (academic, social, stress)

  • Separation anxiety/transition to child care or preschool

  • Traumatic life event

  • Body image concerns/low self-esteem

  • Difficult relationships within the family (parents or siblings)
